There was a weather station at Nyos-Acha recording daily precipitation. LeGuern and I went to the compound the week of August 27, 1986 in search of the recorded rainfall data. There were no survivors, except for a dog growling at us from inside the compound. We were unable to locate the notebook containing the rainfall data for Nyos-Acha.
The village of Kuk has an elevation of 1328 m, which is the same elevation of Lake Nyos (1356 m). Kuk is approximately 5.0 km west of Nyos-Acha.
